From Hoarder's Home to Modern Masterpiece: EIB Construction's First Flip

This traditional home, built in 1967 in Montclair, NJ, had a lot of potential, but it was buried under years of neglect. The property was a hoarder's home, plagued by trash piling up and extensive termite damage. Our team at EIB Construction knew this was an opportunity to showcase our expertise and bring this house into the 21st century.

Our primary goal was to completely reimagine the floor plan for modern living. We started by removing every wall on the first floor to create a truly open concept. To support this new layout, we installed a structural beam that spanned the entire width of the house. This allowed us to build a large kitchen with a 5-foot island, a dedicated bar area, and plenty of storage, creating a space perfect for hosting friends and family.

The most dramatic layout change was transforming the home from a cramped 3-bedroom, 1-bathroom to a spacious 4-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom house. This reconfiguration made it an ideal home for a family.

But our work didn't stop on the interior. We fully replaced the old cedar siding with brand-new vinyl siding and added a 6-foot privacy fence to create a more functional backyard on the corner lot. We also removed small trees and pruned an existing one to enhance the yard's usability and curb appeal.

This complete overhaul brought new life to this home, proving how a strategic, full-scale renovation can transform a neglected property into a beautiful and functional space.
