This project was a full gut renovation of a basement, and our top priority was to create a functional space that could stand up to its history of flooding. We added a brand-new powder room and custom shelving solutions, all while implementing a multi-layered defense against water.
To address the flooding history, we installed an advanced, three-pump draining solution. The system includes a standard pump for most draining, a backup pump that runs on battery power, and a third water-based pump that operates from water pressure in the event the other two fail. We also rerouted all water from the front of the house to the street to create better flow and a more effective draining system.
The renovation started with a full demolition of the existing space. We demolished all existing ceilings and removed all extra wiring and piping to make room for new, modern installations. The flooring was also a major concern, as it was out of level. We meticulously leveled the entire floor to ensure a proper and seamless vinyl flooring installation. Our custom shelving solutions were designed specifically with water prevention in mind. In the unlikely event that all three pumps fail, the shelving is raised off the ground to ensure any items stored on them will remain safe and protected from water damage.
This project was more than just a renovation; it was an investment in long-term peace of mind, transforming a problematic basement into a dry, functional, and well-protected living space.
